Travel through Chocolate
Destination: Lachuá Guatemala

Tasting Notes: Strawberry, Mocha, Lemon Curd.
Flavor Profile: Bright & Fruity

68% Dark Chocolate
Ingredients: organic cocoa beans, organic cane sugar.

Where chocolate is grown is the first key to the tasting notes naturally enjoyed in chocolate. Fruity, nutty, rich & fudgy: before there is a chocolate maker, there is a terroir, a farmer, and a cacao harvest. Take a trip with us and experience the adventure in tasting two-ingredient chocolate made simply with just cocoa beans and organic cane sugar. Snack away and travel through chocolate with each bite.

We've been told more than once that this variety of Snacking Chocolate will make you want to move to Guatemala! Made from cocoa beans grown near Laguna Lachuá, this region is home to families who greatly rely on the production of cacao, honey, cardamom, and corn for their livelihoods. We love this variety for its bright fruity notes of fresh picked strawberry, zesty lemon curd, and rich chocolate mocha, making it truly a unique dark chocolate selection. When enjoying this chocolate, you are also a piece in supporting these farmers.

Size: 6 oz bag, 2 oz mini bag, or 1 pound

About the Farm:

Laguna Lachuá is a large pristine cenote lake deemed a national park in 1976 and a Ramsar site in 2006. Cacao farmers are organized into three certified organic community associations, each with its own fermentation and drying operation. Lachuá communities have planted over 245 hectares of new cacao since 2014 and improved financial literacy in cacao production through projects with the shared goal of protecting the Laguna and improving their quality of life.

The cacao farm is rich in biodiversity. The cacao grown there is intercropped with bananas, plantains, cardamom and coffee. With 146 total hectares, and 61 hectares of organic cacao cultivated, this scenic farm offers ideal growing conditions for the fruity, chocolatey, and creamy bean we have come to know and love. The protected area of this farm also surrounds Lake Lachuá, providing breathtaking scenery.
